Here is another interesting take on regional Australia. The Australian Regional Food Guide is a wonderful site written by Sally and Gordon Hammond. They specialise in writing and photgraphing food and travel.
The Australian Regional Food Guide is a beautifully presented resource for people interested in Australian travel, local information and of course where to gain access to the fabulous food items available throughout regional Australia.
The site can be search by region, town, interests. It is of value to people wanting to promote their Australian Towns and of course to those interested in travelling throughout Australia. Theres a very useful list of Markets and events for each community. You can find places to stay and places to see.
Sally and Gordon are obviously compulsive journalists of their travels throughout Australia. And long may they continue to be! We look forward to seeing more entries reviewing Australian towns and places and there local gourmet treats. They ar co-authors of thebook The Australian Regional Food Guide first published in 1999. You can get the 2005 revised and updated edition.
I particularly enjoyed Sally’s article “Five Things You Need To Know About The Country.” I won’t spoil it here but it gives a simple and balanced perspective of how many of the people who live in the towns we review here at Australian Towns live their daily lives.
